I'm not just a video editor!
Beginning in 2023, I began working at Seattle's most iconic structure: the Space Needle! I was employed to assist in hospitality in the Retail and Admissions departments of the company, yet my contributions and efforts have gone beyond my area of employment. Through my work at the Space Needle, I have been able to help the location and operation grow.

In April 2024, I was awarded an ACT Certificate (Anticipate, Connect, Transform) for displaying outstanding professionalism. These certificates are treated as awards and are given to a select few employees per year.

On June 13 2024, the Space Needle had a less than stellar day after all three of its operating elevators had begun to malfunction. Hundreds of guests had been waiting to exit the building's top floor observation deck, with a fair share of them growing frustrated and impatient. Once the third elevator was announced to be down for repairs, guests were then permitted to take the emergency exit stairwell, which is a 50 floor (or 500 ft.) descent. I then took initiative to race down to the ground level and carry dozens of boxed waters into a tote bag. I then climbed back up the stairwell and met guests halfway in order to hand out water while they exited. I quickly ran out of water, so I returned back down to the ground level again and reloaded my tote bag. I then reclimbed the stairwell and handed out water until my supply had run dry. I repeated this action three times until each of the exiting guests had reached the bottom safely.

Upper management had heard about my actions, and they then asked if I would be willing to do something similar should something similar ever occur again. I happily agreed, and the Space Needle then kickstarted their "Down 2 Earth" initiative, which allows guests to voluntarily take the stairwell down the Space Needle during certain days of the year. This would mark the first time in the building's 60+ year history where guests would be allowed to walk down the 832 steps outside of an emergency, with its initial trial run debuting in September 2024. I was chosen to be one of the first "demonstrators" of Down 2 Earth, and there have now been over 20 days throughout the year in which I have worked with Down 2 Earth to aid guests down the stairs in a fun and safe manner. I have probably now gone down these steps more than 50 times!

The Space Needle now treats me as a sort of representative of the Retail and Admissions departments of the organization, and they occasionally have me sit in on Council Meetings regarding employee wages, compensation, and resources. I've also suggested some ways to allow the Space Needle to provide resources to tourists in the area, including a QR code system that recommends nearby restaurants to those unfamiliar with Seattle.
I've also aided in a few private events sponsored by Uber and Microsoft in which I've served as a host and waiter during late-night parties and conferences. Similarly, I've also worked at some of the Space Needle's booths at events like the Seattle Christmas Market and the Emerald City Comic Con Booth. I have experience approaching and interacting with guests, handling cash transactions, organizing merchandise, and supporting a clean and encouraging environment.

Otherwise, I've just been a hard-working employee of the Space Needle that has done as I've been told! I'm a team player, and I've worked on both the frontline and on the backend. I've regularly improved both employee and customer experiences. I've worked various hours of the day and numerous days of the year including holidays. I've been very fortunate to be able to help the company grow. I'm glad that I've been able to participate in these experiences that have been provided to me, I hope to be able to provide other fun experiences for employees and guests alike in the future!
